The Winning Poker Network (WPN) has recently (on October 7th) rolled out an update to its MTTs. This update was postponed from the end of September and its main features are staking, the ability to customize the looby, and pre-configured bet-sizing for raised pots. At the moment, the novel staking feature is only available in beta versions and is not fully functional yet, however, it should be implemented in the client full-time in the near future. What’s notable is that WPN became the second network in the world to introduce staking, with GGPoker Network introducing it all the way back in 2018.
The new staking feature is definitely a good decision for the Winning Poker Network development into one of the most popular poker networks in the world. At the end of the day, PokerKing, Black Chip Poker, and Americas Cardroom are determined to join the top 5 online poker rooms and even compete with giants such as PokerStars and GGPoker. On top of that, WPN has announced the return of the Million Dollar Sundays. Read on to find out more in the article.

Staking Beta Test
As mentioned previously, WPN has become the second poker operator in the world (after GGPoker) to introduce staking in its rooms. This feature is currently only available in a beta version and is subject to change. The release of this feature was announced by one of the WPN representatives on the network’s forum:
“We released the staking feature today. This is a complex feature with many player transactions involved. While we’ve conducted much testing over the past months, we’ll slowly be adding tournaments to the staking lobby to ensure everything is working as expected. So, you won’t see many tournaments in the staking lobby for a while. However, we’ll slowly be adding more tournaments over the next couple weeks”
How to Buy Shares?
Even though the staking feature is currently available in the beta version, we can already give you a brief tutorial on how to buy and sell shares. This function is really easy to find. It is indicated with the yellow “Staking” button and, you can find it in the lower right corner of the lobby. Once you click this button, you will see the following:
- List of tournaments for which players are selling their shares
- The list of players from whom you purchased shares
- MTT where you sell shares
- List of favorite players (poker players from whom you purchase shares the most often)
Please note that tournaments are manually being added during the beta test by WPN.
Now, let’s take a look at how you can purchase shares. You will have to do the following steps:
- Go to the “Staking” tab
- Select a tournament of your preference
- A list of players selling their shares in the tournament will appear on the right. Players who have not redeemed their shares yet will be highlighted in white
- Choose a player
- Below the list, you will find the share calculator. Use the calculator to enter your share of choice
Please also note that the purchase of shares can take up to 5 minutes to process in the client. You can not return your money if the share has been redeemed. You can only return your money if the player who sold the stake canceled the tournament registration. In this case, your money will be returned automatically to the account balance.
How to Sell Shares?
Now let’s take a closer look at how you can sell shares. The selling process is even more straightforward. You will have to do the following steps:
- Register for the tournament of your choice
- Click on the “Sell Action” button. You will see it in the lower right part of the menu
- Specify the number of shares you want to sell and the number of entries to the tournament
Please note that you can not put over 90% for sale. Also, if you put a coefficient over 1.5, then backers will get access to your real name. The sale closes 5 minutes before the start of MTT.
How to Customize the Lobby?
WPN has also introduced an update to its MTT lobby. Now you can also customize it with various designs of the tables and the client itself. Let’s take a look at what has changed.
- A late registration timer was added in the first column of the lobby
- The “State” column (previously indicated the status of the tournament) was removed
- The “Level” column (previously indicated the current blind level) was removed
- “Enrolled” and “Date and Time” columns were changed into “Players” and “Start”
Now, let’s take a look at how you can customize the lobby. The “Settings” tab now has “Tournament Lobby” tab. In this tab you can change the color scheme of the “Registering”, “Late Registration”, “Running”, and “Finished” statuses. With this new option, it is easier and faster to navigate the tournament tab. You can also change the font of tournament names (6 different fonts and 3 sizes).
How to Change the Size of Bets?
In order to change the bet sizes, you need to activate the “Use Big Blinds” checkbox. You can find it in the “Settings” > “Bet-Sizing”. After you have done that, a scale of adjustable sizes for the pre-flop raised pot will appear. In theory, it makes it much easier to size 3-bets and 4-bets. However, the sizing set is quite limited at the moment:
- 3 BB
- 4 BB
- 5 BB
The community has asked for more sizing options such as 50% of the pot. They have not been implemented yet.
Million Dollar Sunday
WPN has made a decision to finally return the Million Dollar Sunday after almost a three-year break. The main reason to depart from the Million Dollar Sunday was constant overlays. As a result, they were replaced with monthly The Venom events. Even though these tournaments had larger guarantees, they were obviously much rarer. The Million Dollar Sunday mainly focuses on casual players, who are not ready to play for 10 hours straight.
These tournaments have 27 different flights in total throughout the week. They start at 13:45, 17:30, 21:00, and 00:00 GMT. And each flight has the following structure:
- 4 hours running time
- 2 hours late registration period
- 100,000 chips (100BB) starting stack
- 10 minutes (up to level 13) and 12 minutes (up to level 13) blind levels
The final day starts from level 23 and has 15 minutes blind levels. You have an opportunity to qualify for these tournaments through $11 and $22 satellites. These satellites guarantee 2 to 10 tickets. The steps are also a possibility, with starting buy-ins from $0.45.
