The WPTDeepStacks Online has recently concluded at 888poker after 28 different events. The festival was able to gather 15,660 entries in total and award $3,400,000 in prize money to its participants. The $1,050 Main Event was the definite highlight of the schedule with a $1,000,000 guaranteed prize pool and starting flights throughout the series. Gerard “Panxetillo” Carbo was able to navigate his way through a field of 1,024 players and win the $1,050 WPTDeepStacks London Online Main Event for the top prize of $184,320.
This was the largest cash prize for Gerard Carbo at 888poker. To achieve this victory, he had to go up against Jesse “jessecesar” Cesar Fonseca in a heads-up duel. However, the heads-up play only lasted for one hand. Overall, this was a very successful tournament for the Andorran-based players, as he has managed to come second in the $320 WPTDeepStacks #13 – $100,000 6-max as well. The Main Event had a slight overlay, as the total prize pool collected was $1,024,000. The final table of the WPTDeepStacks London Main Event was also broadcasted with hosts Nick Wealthall and David Tuchman. The due was later joined by Vince Van Patten, the WPT commentator, and Matt Savage, the WPT Executive Tour Director. Here is a brief look at some of the series’ highlights.
Gerard “Panxetillo” Carbo Wins the Main Event
The final table began with nine players in total and Dalton “daltonhb” Hobold in the chip lead. Gerard Carbo was in third place but has managed to quickly get into the chip lead before three short-stacked players were eliminated. “ShinyMew2” was knocked out in ninth place for $12,800, “brudii030” was eliminated in eighth place for $20,992, and Jerry “Perrymesjen” Odeen left the final table in seventh place for $31,130.
Rodrigo “Seijistar” Seiji has gained the chip lead for a short amount of time after he called Hobold’s bluff. Soon after that, Gerard Carbo eliminated “BetBetFck” in the sixth place for $41,370 when their J 9 went up against A J. Carbo has made significant ship gains after taking down a few pots and took a confident chip lead that would last until the very end of the tournament. The rest of the field had relatively short stacks, however, Jesse “jessecesar” Cesar Fonseca has gained momentum and eliminated Rodrigo “selouan1991” Selouan in fourth place for $74,240 and Dalton “daltonhb” Hobold in fifth place for $51,610.
Soon after that, Seiji was eliminated by Gerard Carbo when his Q 3 suited didn’t improve against his opponent’s pocket tens. Rodrigo “Seijistar” Seiji was awarded $99,328 for his third-place finish. This kicked off the heads-up play between Gerard “Panxetillo” Carbo and Jesse “jessecesar” Cesar Fonseca.
Carbo had nearly double the stacks of Cesar Fonseca at the start of the heads-up duel. Even though both players had relatively large stacks, the final stage of the tournament lasted for just one hand. It all began when Carbo min-raised from the button with A J and was called by Cesar Fonseca with 5 4. Carbo was able to flop the top pair with A 4 3 on the board. However, Fonseca had a middle pair and a straight draw. Fonseca then called a small bet from Carbo and a bigger one after a ten on the turn. Carbo then rivered another ace and Cesar called the pot-sized jam for the rest of his chips. As a result, Jesse “jessecesar” Cesar Fonseca was awarded $133,120 for his second-place finish and Gerard “Panxetillo” Carbo was awarded $184,320 for his victory at the WPTDeepStacks London Online Main Event.
