The Short Deck Hold’em Poker Version Will Be Available In GG Networks Poker Rooms Very Soon

The Short Deck Hold’em poker variation continues to surge in popularity. For this reason, GG Network, one of the industry’s fastest-growing online poker networks, announced that Short Deck Poker would likely be available on its network this year.

During the interview with the poker PRO magazine, the newly appointed GG leader Jean-Christophe Antoine answered lots of questions on the network directions, its plans for market expansion, and the software development strategies. Meanwhile, he mentioned that they are going to include the Short Deck Poker during the year. Antoine explained that such intention was caused by the high popularity of the game among poker players around the globe. He also said that the network waits a little longer before releasing this option because they want to make sure their version of Short Deck Holdem will be the most beneficial for players.

“GGNetwork is the world’s largest poker network today, and we’re putting much effort into making the beautiful game of Poker fun again, so we are indeed watchful of what happens in the live poker scene, especially the popularity of Short Deck/Six Plus Hold’em,” said Antoine.

“We’ve been observing how it’s been faring for the past couple of months, and we are happy to wait a bit before releasing it. We want to make sure our version avoids pitfalls and comes with extra perks. We will probably launch it sometime in 2019,” he added.

What is Short Deck Hold’em/ Six Plus Holdem?

The Short Deck Hold’em (also known as Six Plus Hold’em) is very similar to Hold’em poker game. Even though most of the rules of these two games are identical, there are two main differences between them. One of them is that in Hold’em six plus, players play with a deck of 36 cards instead of the usual 52 after removing cards from 2 to 5. Another difference is in the strength of the combinations due to the smaller number of cards. For example, in Hold’em six plus, flash beats a full house.

Although the game has been part of the poker community for many years, interest in the game has increased significantly over the past year since it was first shown on television during the Triton Super High Roller series in Montenegro.

During the series, a tournament version with three short decks was also presented, including a buy-in of 1 million Hong Kong dollars. Phil Ivey, one of the first supporters of the game, won his very first live short-tournament against Dan “Jungleman” Cates in heads-up, earning $ 604,977.

Since then, the game has been viral among players, especially in the high stakes community. Six Plus Holdem also debuted at the Aria Resort and Casino in Las Vegas and the US Poker Open last year.

iPoker network became the first network to offer the opportunity to play this new variant for almost three years. Such a tendency was followed by the Winning Poker Network, which introduced this option in 2018. A few months later, PokerStars also launched the game in their global player pool in January.

Partypoker was the next major online supplier to join the Short Deck, allowing players to partially remove extra chips from their stack as soon as they reach a specific size without leaving the table. PartyPoker is proud to be the only online poker player who follows the same rules as were presented during the Triton series.

Since April, Short Deck Hold’em game is also available at the Chico network.
