The two main e-commerce business players Skrill and NETELLER are constantly improving their own services to enhance security or increase attractiveness for users. Clients from all over the world have been trusting these e-wallet providers for many years. Recently, both providers reduced the fees for internal transfers for new users. On top of this, Skrill and Neteller tangled the verification procedure itself.
Two times less commission for all new customers
Last month, Skrill and NETELLER decided to increase the amount of the fee charged for internal transfers for new accounts that haven`t made any deposit yet. For the first transfer, up to 10% will be amounted, for the subsequent – 2.99%, with a minimum transaction size of 100 euros or dollars.
Most likely, this decision was made as an attempt to resist the use of certain accounts to act as intermediaries in the money transfer chain.
From April 8, 2020, the fees for Skrill and NETELLER transfers will be equal to 4.49% for all transactions without any limitations on amounts. After the first deposit, it will be decreased to the standard 1.45% fee.
This is even lower than the fee level introduced in 2019.
New verification rules
Almost a year ago, Skrill and NETELLER providers made some changes to the verification procedure to fulfill the new requirements of European legislation, namely, at its last stage – selfie. This year, the EU standards have become stricter again, which, for example, will lead to the disconnection of Skrill and NETELLER cards in Russia from May 1, 2020, and the conditions for passing self-verification have changed again.
From now on you can no longer upload a ready photo from your cell phone or PC at the last stage of account verification. Selfies must be taken from the webcam or smartphone’s camera in life mode right during the verification process.
Identity and address documents can be sent for verification by e-mail. This step wasn`t affected by any changes.
These changes will only affect new customers of these platforms. For all other users, everything will remain the same.
It is obvious that such changes are caused in the attempt to reduce the field for fraud associated with remittances and multi-accounting.
