The dangerous game with illegal PPPoker apps

We keep getting many requests from people who want to partner with private PPPoker clubs. Our answer is always the same – we won’t stop rejecting these requests.

The security of our players is our top priority, so it is inconceivable for us to recommend such a service to our players.

In this article, we would like to go into detail again about why we stay away from such things and the risks associated with an app like PPPoker. We hope that we can protect you with this article and give you some information that you need to know.

Playing for real money is officially prohibited at PPPoker

Since many players do not even know what poker apps like PPPoker are and how it all works, here is a short explanation.

According to PPPoker, players are only allowed to play with play money chips that cannot be exchanged for real money. Of course, that makes sense because to offer online poker with real money, you need a valid gambling license.

Now there are different clubs and PPPoker is selling play money chips to the owners of these clubs, who then invite players to their club and sell them the chips to play with. Each club has its own private tables and can also connect with other clubs to have a larger player pool and thereby offer players more action.

There are definitely clubs that handle everything exactly as it should be. Others sell the chips for real money, which gives the chips a monetary value and thereby automatically plays for real money. That is illegal!

The whole thing works as follows: Club owners buy the chips directly from PPPoker for a small fee, but sell them to their invited players for a lot more. These players then use the chips to play. If you win something you contact the administrator of the club, who then converts the chips back into real money and pays the player. As long as this all works, it seems easygoing and nothing to worry about. But what is if not?

PPPoker, of course, makes it easy and says that it is outside the control of PPPoker’s management, which is strictly against such types of transactions. However, it is an open secret that many people play for real money on the PPPoker platform. The sentence in the terms and conditions is just to protect the company and to avoid legal problems. They say we do not know what the club owners are doing and have no influence on it.

The general terms and conditions actually say:

You are not allowed to transfer Virtual Items outside of the Services (e.g., in the “real world”), for example by selling, gifting, or trading them. We won’t recognize those transfers as legitimate. You are not allowed to sublicense, trade, sell, or attempt to sell Virtual Items for “real” money, or exchange Virtual Items for value of any kind outside of a game. Any such transfer or attempted transfer is prohibited and void, and we may terminate your Account because of it.

There is no security and transparency

As already mentioned, there is no security when using PPPoker apps, and every activity occurs illegally. Of course, we aren’t saying that all club owners have bad intentions. Nevertheless, there were already enough reports that they have misused lots of funds and did not pay it out. And what can you do about it? Nothing, as already mentioned every activity there is illegal, it shouldn’t be played for real money.

Also, there is no protection against fraud, bots, etc. Additionally, no one controls anything in case all goes wrong. Again, there are no hand histories or game records. There have been several reports and suspicions of unfair gaming in the past.

In the world’s largest poker forum 2 + 2 there are many threads, and you can read statements from players such as:

“Well I’ve been grinding on pppoker for close to 2 years now.. collusion and scams are part and parcel of it I guess.. it helps when you have a reliable agent or affiliate network that does their best to ban colluders or even in some cases forfeit their winnings on that table if HH evidence is strong enough proof.. I think the majority of my encounters on collusion occurs in low stakes though.. from 1/2-3/6”

The conclusion on PPPoker

In the end, it is up to you what you do and the risk that you are ready to take, but we at YourPokerDream recommend avoiding PPPoker as place to play about real money. Even when you get to a reputable administrator who is really honest, there are just too many things that can happen, and as mentioned in this article fairness is in no way guaranteed there. If you play in a club where all is about play money as it should be, then of course no problem at all to play at PPPoker.

Hence, our recommendation: Leave your fingers and play one of the many real money poker rooms where your bankroll is safe and you are secured as a player and can have maximum fun without worrying about such things.
