A small side bet has never hurt anyone yet. It’s no surprise that some side bets go hand in hand with the launch of the US Poker Open on February 1st.
With eight events and different buy ins ranging from $ 10,000 up to $ 50,000, the series could provide new insights into who really is the best all round poker player in the world. Why? Because unlike its sister tournament, the Poker Masters, the USPO will offer a mix of PLO and eight game.
But this is not enough for the super high rollers. The famous pokerpro Daniel Negreanu recently announced a side bet via Twitter.
The bet: Anyone who accepts and wins the trophy, then Negreanu will owe that person $50K. If neither wins the trophy, then it’s a wash.
And the action came very fast. Players who have accepted the bet include Benjamin Pollak and Bryn Kenney and most probably some more will follow.
Hellmuth has not accepted any Negreanu Challenge yet, and only the time will show if he will respond to the USPO’s $ 250,000 bet.
The US Poker Open started yesterday at 2:00 pm. In addition to the side bets, it is also about a trophy and the title of the U.S. Poker Champion.
