2-7 (Deuces to seven) Poker

This deuces to seven triple draw lowball poker is the kind of poker game where the low poker hand will win the pot. This can be simply termed as a form of the lowball. This is a draw game and it means that you will have five cards being dealt at the beginning and you can discard from zero to five of them on the draw and still get replacement cards of the same amount. While in the triple draw game, you will get the chance to draw three times but you can stand pat without discarding any cards on any or all of the draws.

Compared to other low games, the hand ranking in 2-7 is different. When playing 2-7, understand that straights and flushes will count against your low hand and aces will always be high. This means that the best possible hand you can get is 7, 5, 4, 3, 2.

Blinds

Draw games will be played through forced bets that are referred to as blinds. The punter seated to the left of the dealer will post a small blind and the punter to their left will post a big blind. The small blind posted will be equal to half the size of the big blind. The lowball will as well be played with an ante and this is a small forced bet that is posted by every punter on top of the blinds.

The Deal

As a player you will get five cards face down. This will then be proceeded with a round of betting and you will have the chance to fold, call or raise. If you are left in the hand after the first round of wagering is done, then you will have the chance to draw. This will give the player the opportunity to discard a card of their choice if any. Clicking on a second time on a card you planned to discard will remove it from the cards they wish to discard. There is the chance to discard all the five cards if you wanted. If the hand you have feels like a strong one, stand pat. This means that you choose not to discard any of your cards. The discarding process will continue round the table clockwise. When the turn is yours to discard, press the button to confirm that you would like to discard the chosen cards.

When the first draw is done, there is a round of betting which will start with the first active player to the left of the button.

You will have two draws with a round of betting that will follow each other and this will result in three draws and 4 rounds of placing bets. If there will be more than one player left in the hand, a showdown will take place and the player with the best hand will be the winner.

When playing the draw games, there is the possibility to have the need for more cards than there are in the deck. This being the case, the cards will be reshuffled and the game will continue with the new deck.

Determining the winner in the showdown

The player with the best 2-7 hand will be the winner. After the best hand gets the pot, a new game of 2-7 will be started.

When there are two or more hands with the same value, the prize money will be split between the two punters. No rank of suit has been defined to award the pot. This kind of game is different from other kinds of high/low poker; where you find an ace being played high or low. In 2-7 an ace is the highest card at all times.
