Players residing in Germany will be excluded from 28 January 2024

This news definitely comes out of the blue and is a shock for many poker players from Germany. Since the new German Gambling Act came into force in June 2021, there is no longer much to laugh about for poker players from Germany. Numerous restrictions and a completely crazy tax for providers have forced many providers to leave the German market completely.

GGPoker, PokerStars and 888Poker have been left with an official German license, but due to all the restrictions, they can no longer offer players anything in terms of rakeback or promotions that could persuade a player to play there. For this reason, many players have also moved abroad, play with special agent deals or have switched to offshore poker sites such as the Winning Poker (WPN) or Chico network. There you can play online poker without any restrictions as before, but you have to focus 90% on cryptocurrencies as a payment method. As of today, it is clear that the providers of the Winning Poker Network are no longer available and are no longer an option for poker players. However, this decision has no impact on players from Austria or Switzerland.

The decision comes as a surprise as WPN is actually authorized in almost every country in the world and is active in numerous countries where there is strict regulation. The email suggests that the German gambling authority has probably put some pressure on WPN and thinks that this measure will revitalise the German poker market. However, those responsible do not understand that this is not the case and that it will have no effect at all. The players who were now on the WPN network will simply find other ways to continue playing without restrictions.

Raising the monthly deposit limit for German players was the first step in the right direction. But for the German market to regain its former strength, the gambling authorities will have to undergo a major rethink. Whether this will happen is more than questionable. Not in the near future.

The following email went out to all players at ACR, BCP or Pokerking:

In compliance with a notice sent by the Gaming Regulatory Authority to some online poker brand operators, ACR Poker has decided to cease all gameplay and gambling operations for customers from Germany.

As you are a player registered as a resident in Germany, we will remove access to our poker products on January 29th, 2024.

Through January 28th, 2024, you will have access to your customer account solely for the purpose of cashing out your funds. Kindly review and update your account information, if necessary, to ensure a smooth withdrawal process. Please submit your withdrawal request as soon as possible.

Please note that on January 29th, 2024, you will no longer have access to your poker account to initiate a withdrawal. If you have a remaining balance to withdraw after this date, you will need to submit your withdrawal request via an email addressed to support@acrpoker.eu so we may manually process the withdrawal.

Please contact customer support at support@acrpoker.eu in case you have any questions or need any assistance.

We apologize for the short notice and will work with you to handle your cashout quickly.

Alternatives for players residing in Germany

The air is getting thinner, but there are still alternatives for players from Germany to play without any restrictions. The best alternatives are certainly the poker rooms from the Chico network. TigerGaming and BetOnline are a fantastic choice and JackPoker is also still available.

Register with one of these providers and continue to play online poker without any restrictions or limitations imposed by the new German gambling law.
